FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Spending caps, refills, enrollment and checkout, explained.
Is this the same app as Program Manager?
Yes. Program Manager is now called Refill: Group Discounts. It's the same app with the same features, and existing settings are unchanged.
How do the spending cap and refill work?
Each member has a spending cap: the most they can spend at the discounted price in one cycle, for example $500 every 30 days. Spend counts toward the cap at full price, before the discount. When the cycle ends, the cap refills automatically.
What happens if a cart goes over the remaining cap?
You choose in settings: discount only the spend up to the remaining cap (the rest is charged at full price), give no discount on that order, or limit the discount amount.
Can a customer use the discount more than once per cycle?
Yes. Members can place as many orders as they like until they reach their spending cap for the cycle.
Why didn't the discount apply?
The most common reasons: the customer isn't logged in, isn't enrolled, has reached their cap, their enrollment has ended or is paused, or it's a blockout date. Check the customer's enrollment and your dashboard.
Does entering an enrolled email at checkout apply the discount?
No. The discount only applies when the customer is logged in to their Shopify account. Ask members to log in before or during checkout.
Why doesn't the discount show in the cart right after logging in?
If items were added while logged out, Shopify may not update the cart until it changes. The discount usually appears after changing a quantity, adding an item, or going to checkout.
Can it stack with other discounts?
Only if you turn on stacking in settings and the other discount also allows combining. It's off by default.
How do I add customers?
One by one, or by CSV import on Growth and above. Already-enrolled customers and emails not found in your store are skipped.
Can I set a different cap or % for one customer?
Yes. Per-customer overrides let you change the cycle, cap, end date or discount % for one person. Leave them empty to use the group discount's settings.
Can a customer be in more than one group?
No. Each customer can be enrolled in one group discount at a time. You can move them to a different one anytime.
Can members share the discount?
No. There's no code. The discount is tied to the member's logged-in account.
Is there a delay in updating the cap?
Checkout uses the last synced balance, so two quick checkouts in a row can briefly go slightly over the cap. These orders are flagged so you can review them.
Does the discount apply to gift cards?
No. Gift cards never get the discount, and buying them doesn't count toward the spending cap.
Can I pause or end a group discount?
Yes. Pause one member, pause all enrollments at once in settings, set an end date, or set the group discount to draft to stop it.
Is there a free plan or trial?
Yes. The Free plan includes 1 group discount and 10 active enrollments. All paid plans have a 14-day free trial.
